Age-Gap Romance

Helen Craddock

Helen Craddock is forty-four and lives in Bath. Writing is her second career: for fifteen years she ran a bakery with her name over the door, which taught her that money should be discussed plainly, that a good business is mostly early mornings, and that competent people are the most attractive people in any room. She writes contemporary age-gap romance, an older man and a younger woman, set among the auction rooms, firms and family businesses of English cathedral cities and county towns. She writes the register she reads herself: grown- ups who are good at their jobs and say what they mean. She is bored of manufactured misunderstandings, and of age-gap stories in which the younger woman has no view of her own.
