She slept with him after a Christmas party and ignored his breakfast text. Now her boiler is dead, it's minus four, and he's the only engineer in Manchester who'll come out.
Makeup artist Laila Miah has a talent for leaving before anyone can get close. Then January's cold snap kills the boiler in her Chorlton flatshare, every plumber in Greater Manchester is booked solid, and the one emergency callout who answers is Sam Kellett: calm, dry, annoyingly good-looking, and very much aware of whose flat this is.
The part is a week away. That means a visit every morning, two flatmates treating it as the best telly of the winter, and an apology Laila wrecks on day one by claiming she lost her phone. (He saw that his message had been read.)
The banter thaws them both, until her flatmate's "hilarious" one-star review starts costing Sam real jobs. To fix what she started, Laila will have to do the one thing she's always avoided: stay in the room and hear what he really thinks of her.
A warm, laugh-out-loud, open-door rom-com novella. Perfect for fans of Beth O'Leary and Mhairi McFarlane.
