The Brinkhold Inn
One ruined inn. One ordinary man who can fix it. A household worth staying for.
The Brinkhold is a frontier of pine ridges, limestone gorges and long winters, ruled by the monster peoples: lamia clans in the warm gorges, harpy aeries on the cliffs, dragon-kin in the old volcanic country, dryads in the deep woods. North of it, living dungeons open out of the ground and breathe out monsters. Across it runs the Waystation Road, and along the Road stand the old Keepers' inns, each with a Hearth that once held the dungeons back. Most of them went dark a long time ago.
Sometimes a dead waystation calls a Keeper. A man on Earth walks through an ordinary door (a walk-in cooler, a basement stairwell, a warehouse side door) and comes out of the inn's door instead, with the clothes on his back and a Ledger only he can see. It wants the ruin turned into an inn. He has to do it with his own two hands.
The Brinkhold Inn is a series of standalone harem fantasies. In every book a working man rebuilds one waystation, room by room and meal by meal, while the extraordinary women who come to stay choose him, and each other, with their eyes open. Together they beat one dungeon threat, and at the end he is offered the door home and turns it down. Cosy building, real danger, explicit open-door heat, and one household at the end of every book. Most readers begin with The Keeper of Copperbridge.
Each book is a complete interconnected standalone with a different Keeper and household, a guaranteed HEA and no cliffhanger. Read in any order.
