Dragon-Rider Romantasy · Skarreth Wingwatch
Second to None
Her dragon just chose his. Now she has to fly a whole border season beside the one man she has sworn to beat.
Kesta Lomond is a carter's daughter who earns every mark on the Wingwatch rolls with work. Oren Brannick has a four-generation riders' name and a smile she is certain does his work for him. One of them will be named strike leader next autumn. Then their dragons mate on the high shelf above the Ledge, and mated dragons fly together: one patrol, one aerie, one tack room, a chalk slate where they keep score, and two delighted dragons narrating every argument.
When their race to outscore each other nearly costs Kesta's dragon a wing over the Greylag Gap, the truth finally comes out, and rivalry turns into something much harder to fight. But the Commandant has ordered a night strike on the fort above Cindral Pass, and the post goes to whoever leads it. Kesta has to decide whether she wants him, or wants to win.
A complete, steamy rivals-to-lovers dragon-rider romance with two meddling dragons, a war college, a guaranteed happy ending and no cliffhanger. Perfect for fans of Rebecca Yarros and Briar Boleyn.
