Exhibitionist Romance · Hotel Solenne
With the Sound Off
Half of Los Angeles falls asleep to her voice. Almost nobody knows her face.
Overnight host Magda Laskowski broadcasts The Small Hours for a month from a glass booth in Hotel Solenne's members-only courtyard, and nightly she raises the blinds a little higher. At two in the morning her producer passes in a folded note from the man on the courtyard bench. Cinematographer Maurice Marchbanks gives his full name, says he will stop watching if she would rather, and asks one question: would she like to be seen with the sound off?
She says yes. In a glass suite, her hand on the switch and only his name in the gallery book, being looked at by a man who asked first undoes her faster than a city listening ever has.
Then the station offers her a daytime show and her face on a billboard over Sunset, and Maurice goes back to his bench. On the residency's last night, she must choose who sees her, and ask him to stand in the light beside her.
An explicit standalone with a willing audience, an age gap and a happily ever after. Perfect for fans of Fiona Cole and Christina Lauren.
